Tournament Policies


ARTICLE ONE - NSAD NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

Section 1

TOURNAMENT SITE   

 

 

1.1

Selection for NSAD National Tournament Site shall be decided at least four (4) years in advance by the Executive Board.

 

 

Section 2   

BID FOR ANNUAL NSAD NATIONAL TOURNAMENT   

 

 

2.1 

NSAD Member clubs desiring to bid for Annual NSAD National Tournament shall submit the followings:     

2.1.2  

Letter of affidavit from the Member club.   

2.1.3

At least 4 diamonds with lighted, and fenced fields.  The length of fenced fields shall follow the ASA, USSSA, or NSA rules for the National tournaments. 

2.1.4

A bid fee of five hundred dollars ($500.00)   

 

 

2.2 

If the member club is successful in its bids, the fee shall be kept by the NSAD; otherwise the fee shall be refunded without interest to the member club.   

 

 

Section 3

ANNUAL TOURNAMENT DATES   

 

 

3.1

The annual NSAD Softball Tournament shall be held during one of first three (3) weekends of August [before the Labor Day weekend.]  The exact dates shall be approved by the NSAD Executive Board at least one (1) year in advance and announced accordingly.

 

 

Section 4 

TOURNAMENT SET-UPS

 

 

4.1  

MEN:   The NSAD National Men's Softball Tournaments shall be at least 8 Team Slow-Pitch Double Elimination set-ups.

 

 

4.2  

WOMEN:   The NSAD National Women's Softball Tournaments shall be at least 8 Team Slow-Pitch Double Elimination set-ups.  

 

 

4.3 

 The tournament bracketing shall follow the USSA official brackets according to the number of team entries in the tournament.  

 

 

4.3.1 

Bracket pairings of the regional associations shall be on Wednesday prior to the National Softball Tournament.  

4.3.2

Once national tournament pairings have been made, approved and announced, no charges whatsoever shall be made to the brackets.

4.3.3 

Softball Information Director shall create large posters for the Tournament Bracket, at the Fields and as approved by Softball Tournament Director.    

 

 

Section 5

TOURNAMENT TIMES   

 

 

5.1 

The tournament shall begin on Friday of the said tournament dates.   

 

 

5.2

The completion of the tournament shall be planned for 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.   

 

 

Section 6

TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS   

 

 

6.1 

The tournament games shall be governed by registered USSSA umpires, who are certified and listed in the USSSA Softball Guide.   

 

 

6.2

Each game, with the exception of the championship games, shall be officiated by two umpires.   

 

 

6.3

Championship games shall be officiated by four umpires.

 

 

6.4 

Each game shall have a qualified official scorekeeper.   

 

 

6.4.1  

The NSAD Softball Information Director shall provide official scorebooks for the tournament games with the cost borne by the NSAD General Fund.  

6.4.2

The NSAD Softball Information Director shall obtain a pool of names of scorekeepers and spotters who are interested in working during the softball tournaments, They shall assign the scorekeepers and spotters to work for both men's division and women's division. Those scorekeepers shall be equally capable, and be assigned to both groups, and shall be rotated in assignments to games without regard to their personal preference as to which men's division or women's division to work.   

 

 

Section 7   

TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION FEES  

 

 

7.1 

The NSAD shall charge a NSAD registration fee of ten dollars ($10.00) on each ticket sold. Each function of the tournament is sold separately. The Admission committee shall also collect a registration fee of ten dollars ($10.00) from each player who registers for the tournament. 

 

 

7.2 

The total sum of all registration fees shall be remitted, in full, to the NSAD Treasurer together with a list of all such combination and individual tickets sold, including the participating players. The registration fees shall be applicable to all and collected by the admission Committee for each and every function sponsored by the NSAD during the days and nights of the tournament and also any party during NSAD Tournament.   

 

 

7.3 

For the convenience of the NSAD Treasurer, each and every variation of tickets sold by Admission Committee shall be numbered in sequence and shall be accountable upon request of the NSAD Secretary-Treasurer at the close of the tournament.

 

 

Section 8

NSAD EXECUTIVE BOARD'S EXPENSES   

 

  

8.1 

Transportation expenses of the NSAD Executive Board to the NSAD Tournament Site, in the form of the lowest applicable round-trip airfare, shall be paid by the NSAD.    

 

 

8.2

NSAD Softball Tournament Director shall make sure a suite room for the NSAD commissioner and 4 rooms for NSAD elected officers.

 

 

Section 9

TOURNAMENT COMBINATION AND SPECIAL RATE COMBINATION TICKETS 

 

 

9.1  

The NSAD shall provide complimentary combination tickets to the actual number of participants, up to seventeen (17) registered team men and women players, manager and coach of each regional championship.    

 

 

9.2  

Special-rate combination tickets shall be sold to team members, up to seventeen (17), of the regional invited teams and NSAD lifetime pass cardholders.

 

 

9.3

Special-rate combination ticket shall be twenty dollars ($20.00) per lifetime pass cardholders.

   

9.4

Lifetime passes good for all tournament functions except Hall of Fame breakfast or luncheon shall be awarded by the NSAD to following individuals:
a. Members of the NSAD  Men's and Women's championship team who have actually participated in the NSAD tournament. (limited to 17 team members per team).
b. Past NSAD Commissioners automatically and other NSAD past officers who have served more than four (4) continuous years on the NSAD Executive Board.
c. Past chairperson(s) of national softball tournament to receive a Lifetime Pass for their services in hosting the NSAD softball tournament.

 

 

Section 10

Team Representative ' MEETING    

 

 

10.1

The Team Representative of all teams entered in the NSAD Softball Tournament shall meet with the NSAD Deputy Commissioner at the discretion of the NSAD Executive Board at an appropriate time

 

 

Section 11  

TOURNAMENT AWARDS   

 

 

11.1

The NSAD shall provide tournament awards and for each division as follows:

Most Valuable Player

5

Batting Average Leader

Most Runs Batted In

Coach of the Tournament

11.2 

Each player shall play at least four (4) games and shall have at least twelve (12) plate appearances in the Softball Tournament in order to be eligible for an All-Star, Most Valuable Player, RBI Leader or the Highest Batting Average Leader Awards and his/her team must finish in the top 6 places in order to merit considerations for these awards. 

   

Section 12

TOURNAMENT GAME RULES AND REGULATIONS   

 

 

12.1 

During the progress of any games in the NSAD Softball Tournament only the team members may occupy their dugout.   

 

 

12.2

All tournament games rules and regulations, other than specified in these NSAD Rules and Regulations, shall be followed as outlined in the official USSSA.

12.3

PROTESTS and APPEALS - All $100 cash will be imposed for each appeal during the regional and national tournament games. If the protest is valid, $100 will be returned to the team otherwise regional or national organization shall keep the appeal money.

   

Section 13   

RESTRICTIONS

 

 

13.1

Any NSAD member club host which schedules, advertises and carries out any type of major sports event or major entertainment function other than those of a purely local nature and interest on a date which conflicts with the dates of the annual NSAD Softball Tournament shall automatically be subject to a fine of two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00) and shall be suspended from all participation in NSAD competition for a period of two (2) years dating from such offense.  The fine shall be remitted to the NSAD Treasurer and the member club shall be suspended from all NSAD activities until such fine is paid in full. 


 

ARTICLE TWO - NSAD SANCTIONED REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS
Section 1  ANNUAL REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS DATES
1.1 Softball championships of any of the regional associations shall be started by the first weekend of June.
   
1.2 Softball championships of any of the regional associations shall be concluded by the fourth weekend of July prior to the National Softball Tournament
Section 2 RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE REGIONAL ASSOCIATIONS   
1.2  No later than April 1stof each year, each NSAD sanctioned regional tournament host shall notify both its regional officers and NSAD Secretary-Treasurer of its tournament including the date, site, address of site, tournament chairperson's name, address and phone number and the tournament program (tentative or complete).  
1.2.1  A fine of $100.00 shall be levied against each region, which fails to monitor the deadline of April 1st.
1.3  Provide Liability Insurance coverage of the tournament through NSAD.

 

Section 1

DEFINITION   

 

 

1.1 

A sanctioned invitational tournament is defined as a series of games at the same time involving at least three (3) teams and abide the NSAD Constitution and Bylaws.

 

 

Section 2 

REQUESTS FOR SANCTIONED INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENTS   

 

 

2.1

NSAD member clubs desiring to sponsor a NSAD sanctioned invitational tournament shall present their plans and objectives along with a sanction fee of fifty dollars ($50.00) to their Regional Secretary-Treasurer at least forty five days (45) prior to the said tournament in order that the region may satisfy itself that it is worthy of being sanctioned. Information shall include the site of the tournament and the expected number of teams. (See Section 3 for Foreign Teams)   

 

 

2.2  

Requests for sanctioned invitational tournament submitted less than forty five (45) days prior to the said tournament shall pay an additional fifteen dollars ($15.00).   

 

 

2.3  

No sanctions shall be granted after the completion of the last regional tournament and extending to the completion of the NSAD national tournament for the same year.   

   

2.4

The regional association of the host hosting the NSAD-sanctioned regional tournament shall pay two-hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) for the sanction fee to host the regional tournament.

   

Section 3 

FOREIGN TEAMS   

 

 

3.1  

If a foreign team is to be invited to participate in any NSAD sanctioned tournament, application shall be made directly to the NSAD Commissioner for approval. A penalty of fifty dollars ($50.00) shall be levied against the sponsoring club who fails to submit the application to the NSAD Secretary-Treasurer.

   

3.2

NSAD shall pay fifteen dollars ($15.00) for every foreign club team to PANAMDES for participating in NSAD-sanctioned tournament.

   

3.3

NSAD shall pay fifty dollars ($50.00) for every foreign national team for participating in NSAD-sanctioned tournament.

   

Section 4

RESTRICTIONS   

 

 

4.1  

During a sanctioned invitational tournament, a player shall play for only one (1) team and shall not be permitted to transfer or to jump and play for another team. Failure to abide this restriction shall be subject to a disciplinary action by the Commissioner.   

 

 

Section 5

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SPONSORING CLUB   

 

 

5.1  

Within seventy- two (72) hours after the completion of any sanctioned tournament, the sponsoring member club shall send the results, waiver forms, and any indecent reports of the tournament to the NSAD Treasurer and to their Regional Secretary-Treasurer. A penalty of fifty dollars ($50.00) shall be levied against the sponsoring club who fails to meet the requirements of this ruling.
